The YES Programme is one of the fastest ways to move your B-BBEE level—if it’s done correctly

We help South African businesses implement the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme in a way that is:

What is the YES Programme?

YES is a business-driven initiative established to address South Africa’s youth unemployment crisis by creating 12-month quality work opportunities for black youth.

While YES is recognised in the B-BBEE framework, it is not a standard scorecard element, which is why many companies struggle to implement it correctly.

That’s where we come in

We design, host, and manage your YES implementation.

Why businesses choose YES

B-BBEE pressure is real, but YES delivers fast results.

Why South Africa’s leading companies choose EduPower

No. The YES Programme is recognised by the B-BBEE Codes, but it is not a scorecard element. It sits alongside the scorecard and rewards qualifying companies with B-BBEE level upgrades when participation and absorption targets are met.
Depending on your level of participation and absorption, the YES Programme can result in a one-level or two-level B-BBEE uplift. In certain scenarios, additional bonus points may also apply.
No. One of the key advantages of the YES Programme is that it allows companies with limited or no black ownership to participate. This makes it particularly valuable for multinationals and family-owned businesses, provided priority element requirements are met.
Not necessarily. Youth can be placed internally within your organisation or externally through a host employer model. EduPower supports both options, including fully hosted placements that remove the operational burden from your business.
Permanent employment is not compulsory. However, absorption thresholds apply if you want to maximise your B-BBEE recognition. Higher absorption rates result in stronger B-BBEE outcomes. We help you plan absorption realistically and in line with your operational capacity.
Each YES placement must run for a full twelve months. This includes structured, full-time quality work experience that is properly documented and monitored. Shorter placements do not qualify for YES recognition.
Yes. Up to 50% of your Skills Development spend may be recognised as informal training for YES youth, provided the learning and workplace exposure are structured and supported by proper documentation.
Yes. Businesses participating in B-BBEE for the first time may benefit from leniency provisions and can access YES-related recognition in a relatively short timeframe, depending on compliance with programme requirements.
We can manage the full YES lifecycle, including target calculation, youth sourcing and placement, hosted or internal delivery models, mentoring and supervision, reporting, audit documentation, and absorption planning. You decide your level of involvement; we take responsibility for delivery.
